Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex Police Area

The Essex Green Party is not putting a candidate forward for the role of Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner. We cannot afford the £5,000 deposit, which in itself seems undemocratic. We are sceptical about the role, which does not appear to have brought about any improvements in Essex. It seems to us wrong that any police force should be answerable to just one person, representing their own personal point of view, or that of a single political party rather than the public as a whole.
